Generator / Alternator Checklist

  1. Confirm vendor in attendance prior to commencing this checksheet.
  2. Confirm nameplate / labelling / warning signs and ID Tags are correct.
  3. Confirm rotation plate fitted.
  4. Direction of rotation looking on drive end. ( CW / CCW )
  5. Confirm that there is no mechanical damage and paintwork is good.
  6. Check bearing lubrication and confirm that there is no oil leakage from bearings or pipework.
  7. Confirm with mechanical discipline all alternator drains are installed and open.
  8. Confirm terminal boxes and glanding correct.
  9. Confirm earthing is correct and connections tight.
  10. Confirm holding down bolts fitted correctly.
  11. Confirm free rotation of shaft with machine uncoupled.
  12. Check protection of live parts are installed and complete.
  13. Where fitted, perform visual inspection of:
    • Winding temperature detector connections.
    • Air temperature detectors and connections.
    • Water temperature indicators and connections.
    • Bearing temperature indicators and connections.
    • Vibration monitors and connections.
    • Condensation detector and connections.
    • Indicating instruments (Rogowski coils, CT and surge arrestor) and connections.
  14. Confirm Stator winding connection (Star / Delta)
  15. Confirm coupling guards are fitted.
  16. Check that no damage sustained to gaskets and all gaskets are in place.
  17. Confirm preservation has been performed as per specification.
  18. Installation drawings have been “Red Lined” as per the Project Completions Procedure.
