1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this method statement is to explain the installation of Cable Tray and Ladder in accordance with the requirements of Project Technical Specification and related Standards specifying the quality control procedures.
2. SCOPE
This method statement:
– Covers the methodology to be followed during Cable Tray & Ladder Installation
– Shall be read in conjunction with related ITP for Cable Tray & Ladder Installation
– Describes the responsibilities, procedure, inspections and/or tests and safety measures associated with Cable Tray & Ladder Installation.
3. EXECUTION
3.1 Materials
All materials to be used for installation shall be approved materials. The following materials will be used for the installation process:
– Cable Tray
– Cable Ladder
– Threaded Rod
– Flat Washer, Spring Washer, Nut, Sprint Nut, Bolt
– Drop-in anchor
– Channel Support
– Fixing accessories
3.2 Tools
– Ladders / Scaffolding
– Drilling machine
– Hacksaw
– Measuring Tape
– Spirit level
– Plumb bob
– Electrician’s toolbox
4. PROCEDURE
4.1 Material Inspection
– The materials delivered to site shall be inspected thoroughly by QA/QC Engineer and shall be stored properly as per manufacturer recommendations.
– The Material Inspection shall be raised as per the ITP.
4.2 Installation
– Mark on site the raceway location of cable trays and cable ladders as per the latest approved shop drawings.
– Install fixings and supports at 1500 mm centers, 150 mm from bends, tees, intersections, and riser, as close as practicable to joints, each side of expansion joints.
– Space the cable trays arranged one above the other in relation to their width not exceeding a ratio of 1:2 with a minimum distance of 150mm during installation.
– Fix the cable trays in accordance with site conditions and manufacturer’s recommendations.
– Join cable tray and accessories as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
– Avoid mid-span joints.
– Consider that drilling, machining, and cutting shall not be carried out after application of protective coat, unless previously agreed by the Engineer. If cutting or drilling is necessary, clean up and paint edges with zinc-based paint before erection.
– Consider that installation of vertical runs of tray along the line of vertical expansion joints in structure of the building shall not be allowed.
– Provide all the cable trays and accessories with continuity electrically and mechanically throughout their length.
– Earth the entire cable tray system as per project requirements.
4.3 FINAL CHECKS
– All routes shall be checked to ensure connections and supports.
– Damaged units and components shall be checked and shall be replaced with new ones.
5. INSPECTION & TESTING
– The Quality Engineer shall make prior checks for all installations as per the installation checklist.
– The QC shall raise inspection & test request as per related ITP and submit it to the Contractor for inspection and approval.
– Cable tray and ladder installations shall be inspected in accordance with relevant ITP and related inspection checklist.
